History of Mattiske Consulting

Mattiske Consulting is an environmental consultancy specialising in botany and plant ecology.

Mattiske Consulting Pty Ltd was formed primarily as an environmental consultancy in 1994. Prior to this, consulting activities were undertaken as the E. M. Mattiske and Associates partnership, established in 1979 by Dr Libby Mattiske and Mr Trevor Mattiske as owners. Mattiske Consulting is a Western Australian owned and managed company, operating primarily in Western Australia.

The team is led by Dr Libby Mattiske, who has had extensive involvement with a range of ecological, environmental and natural heritage issues. Libby's experience with a range of industry and government groups has expanded over more than thirty-six years of consulting. Prior to establishing the initial business operation Dr Mattiske was employed with the former Forests Department of Western Australia in the scientific research team. During this period Dr Mattiske worked extensively in the southwest forests, on Gnangara Mound and in the Wheatbelt.

The Mattiske Consulting team aims to provide clients with comprehensive and rigorous scientific data, specialising in terrestrial botanical and ecological surveys. The team consists of a range of experienced botanists, ecologists and environmental scientists, who possess a diverse range of skills and expertise. Some of the areas of expertise include botanical taxonomy, survey design and implementation, botanical and ecological research, flora and vegetation baseline surveys, rehabilitation planning and monitoring, statistical data analysis, targeted threatened and priority flora surveys and weed assessments.

Mattiske Consulting's skills and knowledge base are constantly evolving through both internal and external training to keep up to date with regulatory processes and industry and community expectations.

Ecological studies have been undertaken primarily in Western Australia (the South-west, Swan Coastal Plain, Midwest, Goldfields, Wheatbelt, Pilbara, Great Victoria Desert and the Kimberley regions), as well as including interstate and overseas projects. These studies often involve extensive field work in both metropolitan and remote areas. Samples of Mattiske Consulting's capabilities can be found here.

Team members hold a range of qualifications including nationally accredited training in Fundamentals of Supervision, Safety, Apply First Aid, Defensive Driving, Operate and Maintain a 4WD Vehicle, Lockholders and Fire Awareness. For more information, see Mattiske Consulting's HSE Management Plan.
